To produce quality trained health care professionals that will improve community wide health outcomes. 


Mississippi Medical Education and Research Consortium (MSMERC) provides comprehensive, high quality care through the delivery and coordination of family and patient-centered healthcare services. 

The Mississippi Medical Education and Research Consortium will strive to create learner and patient centered environments that stress compassionate care, integrity, inclusivity, academic excellence, scholarship, adaptability and social responsibility.  

Experience and Professionalism

 MSMERC, Inc.  serves as the ACGME Sponsoring Institution.   As well as its responsibility for academic oversight, it is also a 501(c)3 tax exempt charitable organization responsible for assistance in garnering financial support.  The Mississippi Delta Family Medicine Residency is overseen by MS MERC and is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  The Mississippi Delta Family Medicine Residency received its Program Initial  Accreditation (1202700561) from the ACGME Family Medicine Review Committee 07/01/2019.  The  faculty and staff are experienced and highly capable educators who lead our medical education mission and oversee the care provided by our medical trainees at all levels.

The historic King's Daughter's Hospital, now known as Delta Health - The Medical Center's West Campus, will house the Family Medicine  Administration offices as well as the Family Medicine Residency Continuity Clinic

 

Clinical rotations will occur on the Delta Health - The Medical Center's main campus with rotations at South Sunflower County Hospital

South Sunflower County Hospital - Unique Training in Rural FM Obstetrical Care

South Sunflower County Hospital is a 49-bed general acute care public hospital, with three Rural Family Practice clinics and a Surgical Clinic serving a rural population in the Mississippi Delta. It was established in 1939 to provide primary care to a diverse population.  The Family Medicine Clinic is home of one of two family medicine practices in Mississippi that practices full scope OB/GYN.
